i am PLAINLY surprised after learning that my youngest brother has her gf pregnant (for 1.5 weeks now).
I am still surprised (despite the fact that he and his gf have been together for 5 years and are housemates for 2 years) BECAUSE:
- he just graduated from college (and recently had his oath-taking),
- he does not have any source of income aside from the monthly allowance our parents give him despite the degree he earned, (well starting monday he will be working in a BPO located in libis)
- he assures us with reasons like: kaya ko to, ung iba nga nakayanan, ako pa... which by the way sounds independent, but then the very reason why we wanted to somehow be prepared in many ways because we do not want to experience the hardships we've been through and it's crappy to hear such reason,
- medical services in relation to ceasarian birth or normal birth would cost the couple a lot, and vitamins and other medicines ( and supplements) cost more than you think of (this is based on my eldest brother's experience) and
- he is still my baby brother -- whom I wish could visit other places other than luzon, visayas or mindanao...
so, why should not i be surprised? because for almost two years, the playing ground has been safe... and i just thought he would still think of going out (and be petitioned)...
i won't stop being surprised about the things happening with my family or with people i care for because i only hope and expect the best from them...
so, i choose being surprised because I care (SOO) much for my youngest brother... and maybe I have to choose whom to care for... i choose caring about my family because my family is a WELCOME given... and I should be really choosing people whom i know in return does not mind my being "honest" about certain stuff... 
kay, i know how you feel.. i felt the same thing when my kuya got married (although my sis-in-law wasn't pregnant when they got married). i didn't think that he was ready coz he had no job then and was so immature, hehehe.. but now, he's really doing his duties well as a husband and a father. anyway, it is really surprising if the "bunso" will get married coz they are treated and looked at as babies even if they are old enough to tie the knot. bunso ako, remember? un lang.. lab u! =)

when younger siblings claim to know what to do and want to detach themselves from you, it sucks. majorly.
